As Of Now...

I'm working with Myndbend Multimedia, Inc., out of Tampa, FL. Through them I've worked on several sites and ongoing projects. Most recently I've worked on:

I also have an avid interest in photography as well as photo manipulation and improvement. I'm well versed in Photoshop CS, and use it almost daily. You can view some of my work in the Portfolio section.

That's what's going on as of January 21, 2006. Now for a little history....

In The Beginning...

I grew up in the suburbs of Boston, MA, graduated from Sharon High School in 1988, and later earned an Associates degree in Communications.

I am a published author and poet, and have been an assistant editor for three poetry anthologies.

Byron's Web

My web-design interest was piqued when a company I consulted for needed to put up a web site. The owner got a WYSIWYG (What You See Is What You Get) editor -- Microsoft's Frontpage, I believe -- and started creating a site to sell his books. As I followed his progress I became more and more interested.

"I can do that!" I boasted to myself, and promptly got lost trying to figure out how to work Adobe's PageMill WYSIWYG editor. I had no real understanding of how the web worked, and why I couldn't get my pages to look the way I wanted them to look. It was very frustrating!

So, on January 1, 2001, I signed up for About.com's HTML tutorial. It's supposed to be an 11 week course -- 10 lessons, one per week, and a final quiz -- but I couldn't wait that long! I requested "back issues" of the course, and promptly received all ten lessons in my e-mailbox that morning. One week later I had the basics down pat!

I now had a basic understanding of how HTML and the web worked. It was time to learn more!

Scouring The Internet

I marauded the search engines looking for more information to fuel my burning desire to learn about this amazing language, HTML. I found WebMonkey, WebDev, The JavaScript Source, the World Wide Web Consortium's site, and so many more! There was information out there, millions of minds, and they all offered to share their wisdom with me.

Actions Speak

I put my skills to the test and created websites for my friends and family. They asked questions and I had answers! Yet the web didn't offer everything I needed. Sometimes we need people to consult with, people who have seen what we've seen and have answers to our questions. Scripting and coding isn't easy, and I wanted to know it all!

So I enrolled in school.

The Saga Continues

I learned the tricks of the trade, the fundamentals that make for strong web creations, and learned skills that have paid dividends whenever I type code on the keyboard.

Not everyone is cut out for learning web design. Even with thousands of dollars on the line for tuition, people still dropped out. It's not easy, but if you're passionate, it's worth it.
